JESUS - LIGHT OF QUÉBEC!

"The people that sat in darkness saw a great light!" Matthew 4:16

We are all aware of the situation hovering over the Province of Québec and it's lack of unity with the rest of Canada. All truth is parallel - the lack of unity we have seen in the natural and political arena is directly linked to the spiritual atmosphere that we, Christians, have created. For years we have witnessed a bond of love developing within the English speaking Canadian leadership of churches while we stood powerless in front of the continuous conflicts reigning within the churches of this French Canadian Province.

Canada was not created by English or French politicians alone, it was created by God Almighty who made Heaven and Earth, French and English!

We all want to see a national genuine revival sweep Canada. This revival will have to start in the spiritual realm, at the location where this country had it's start in the natural realm; in the Province of Québec!

Hence, the plan of New Beginnings Ministry was to study the 16 administrative regions of the Province, their distinctive strengths and weaknesses, their individual history and then to conduct a two day meeting in the most important cities of each area.

We began our outreaches in Joliette, the most important city of the Lanaudière region, which is considered to be the home of Roman Catholicism in Québec. This region is the birth-place of our first French Canadian Prime Minister Sir Wilfrid Laurier (St.Lin). We then went to Shawinigan, in the Mauricie region, home of our actual Prime Minister Jean Chrétien. A few weeks later, Pastor Stéphane Chauvette accepted an invitation to speak in an outreach conducted by another ministry in Alma, located in the Lac St.Jean region, and home of Québec ex-Premier Lucien Bouchard. Shortly after, we conducted another outreach in Sherbrooke / Eastern townships region, home of Québec's Premier Jean Charest.

The strategy of "Jesus - Light of Québec" is a two-fold plan;

- First, reach the unsaved.

We publicized each outreach on radio during the two weeks preceding the meetings (in French and English), and inserted a quarter page newspaper (secular regional newspaper) display to provide details about the times and location of the meetings.

Each Saturday preceeding an outreach, about thirty volunteers would distribute three thousand circulars & witness for Jesus at key locations in each city.

Since the theme for each meeting is "JESUS - LIGHT OF QUEBÉC", New Beginnings Ministry arranged for an airplane to pull a gigantic banner with this theme over the route of recent MARCH FOR JESUS in Montreal.

We also sent invitations to all the mayors of the surrounding cities and towns in the regions we visited. Each invitation had a "JESUS LIGHT OF QUÉBEC!" tract enclosed with it, explaining the Gospel message of salvation. Already, more than 300 mayors have personally received the message of Jesus-Christ and of His Salvation by mail.

- Secondly, teach the Christians.

Prior to each outreach, we sent invitations to every Christian Pastor and leaders to attend, and to encourage their members to invite their unsaved friends to join them in a large conference center.

It was a blessing to see for the first time, Catholics and pastors from the Salvation Army, Pentecostal, Seventh Day Adventist, Baptist, Brethren and independant Churches along with leaders from the Full Gospel Business Men praying together in unity for Québec in front of a giant size "Jesus - Lumière du Québec" display.

While New Beginnings Ministry team was "on the road", a team of intercessors back home, was praying that the Lord would have His way in every region. Pastor Stéphane Chauvette gave spiritual keys to see breakthroughs in every area visited according to their individual history.

Some analysts say that the Province of Québec is the largest mission field on the continent of North America with less than 1% of the population being born-again. Hardly reached because of the language barrier, this situation has to change!

The spiritual climate of all North America depends upon the work that is being done in it's oldest inhabited region: The Province of Québec!

Our common goal is to see Jesus Christ glorified and exalted in the hearts of every Quebecer.

"How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?" Romains 10:14
